We support all of our students to enjoy an active lifestyle by providing free access to gym and swimming facilities across all of our campuses.
Registering for Ethos
To use our flagship sport centre Ethos at our South Kensington Campus you must first register online. Registration is free and only takes a couple of minutes to complete. You will need your College username and password.
Although you can register before the start of term, you will only be able to start using Ethos's facilities once you have completed the registration process for your course and have received your College ID card.
Once registered as a student member, you will have free access to the pool, sauna, steam room and spa. If you intend to use the gym, you will need to complete a gym induction first (see below).
You will be charged a small fee for all other activities such as badminton, table tennis and our huge range of exercise classes.
Use the online booking system to book an activity.
Using the gym
There is a fitness gym in Ethos and on three of our medical campuses (Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary's), as well as at our Silwood Park Campus.
It's free to use the gym at any of our campuses but you first need to complete a gym induction (called a fitness orientation) at Ethos sports centre before you will be given gym access.
There is a one-off, non-refundable fee of £40 (in 2016–17) for your fitness orientation. Orientations take place daily and can be booked online (select 'classes' and search for 'fitness orientation') or in person at the Ethos reception.
The orientation will last approximately 45 minutes. Appropriate clothing and footwear are not necessary, though you will need to complete a Health Commitment Statement (HCS) [PDF].
Please note: if you fail to attend your booked orientation or show up late, without providing a minimum of 24 hours' notice, you will be required to pay the orientation fee again.
